:: Why we detail

We at AC Detailing (short for Aaron's Custom Detailing) love detailing cars. Being car enthusiasts ourselves, we understand the necessity of and the enjoyment that comes from giving our cars the care and attention they deserve. What started as a weekend hobby has since grown into a passionate endeavor—every detail package we provide is custom-tailored to bring out the best from your car. From our equipment selection to our custom process to our obvious drive for perfection, you'll agree that AC Detailing is car care for enthusiasts, by enthusiasts.

  • Where are you located?
  • We are located in Newark, CA but serve the greater Bay Area, Sacramento, and Central Valley.
  • What are your hours of operation?
  • Our hours of operation are flexible—we'll work around what works for you.
  • How do I set up an appointment?
  • Visit our contact page and drop us an e-mail, give us a phone call, or fill out our convenient online detailing request form.
  • Can I cancel an appointment once I've made one?
  • Sure you can, but we ask that you let us know at least 48 hours in advance so we can arrange other clients accordingly.
  • What products do the fine folks at AC Detailing use?
  • We use only top shelf, special ordered products that are thoroughly researched and matched to the exact characteristics of your car's paint job (the "custom" in our title isn't just for show).
  • Be more specific!
  • Well, a casual glance at the supply shelves in our studio reveals products from Swissvax, Chemical Guys, Menzerna, Meguiar's, Einszett, Dodo Juice, Metro, P21S, Zaino, 3M, and Leather Master. To name a few.
  • What is the difference between the carnuba and synthetic waxes you offer?
  • Glad you asked. In general, synthetic waxes are used before carnuba waxes are applied. Synthetic waxes are ideal for daily-driven cars as they provide a level of protection unmatched by carnuba waxes. Synthetics usually last for several months at a time. The tradeoff, however, is that carnuba waxes produce incredible paint depth and brilliance not usually seen by synthetic waxes. Of course, carnuba waxes only last for a month or so at a time.
  • How do you remove the swirls in my paint?
  • We use either a PorterCable 7424, a Metabo, or a Makita high-speed rotary tool in conjunction with specialty polishing compounds to evenly buff out instances of micro-marring (aka "swirls").
  • Wait, you mean to tell me that polishing out swirls removes my car's clear coat?
  • Yes, but don't be alarmed: in most cases, professional car polishing removes less than 1% of your car's clear coat. And as part of our mission statement, every detailing job comes complete with the practical information you need to make sure future swirls stay far, far away from your car's paint.
